Common questions.

What makes AudioFlow different from ordinary audiobook software?

Most narration services give you tools and generated audio, leaving you to manage the production yourself.

AudioFlow is a guided production service built specifically for novels. It prepares the manuscript, handles narrators and dialogue performance, manages pronunciations, generates a sample for approval, proofs the finished book, makes production corrections, and delivers professionally prepared audiobook files.

You make the important creative decisions without having to become an audio producer.

Is AudioFlow the cheapest way to make an audiobook?

No—and that is not what AudioFlow is designed to be.

You may be able to spend less by using a basic narration service or a retailer’s built-in narration program. Those options often require you to prepare the manuscript, manage usage limits, correct pronunciations, regenerate problem passages, assemble chapters, proof the complete book, and work within the platform’s distribution rules.

AudioFlow is designed for authors who would rather pay one predictable project price and receive a properly produced audiobook without doing the technical and production work themselves.

AudioFlow can also preserve narrator choices, pronunciation guidance, and character performance notes across later books in a series, so authors do not need to rebuild the production from scratch each time.

It costs more than the most basic do-it-yourself options, but far less than most professionally produced human narration.

What if I don’t like the sample?

You are not required to continue with full production.

Your first audiobook includes sample preparation and generation at no charge. For subsequent audiobooks, you pay a $20 setup fee before the sample is prepared.

After hearing the sample, you can request reasonable adjustments to the narrator, pronunciations, or performance guidance before deciding whether to proceed.

The remaining project price is payable only after you approve the sample. If you decide not to continue, full production will not begin and you will not owe the remaining balance.

Is the narration performed by a human voice actor?

AudioFlow uses licensed digital voices rather than hiring a human voice actor to record the book.

You choose and approve the narrator before full production. AudioFlow also provides detailed performance guidance based on the characters, dialogue, mood, and events in your novel.

Some sales platforms require digitally narrated audiobooks to be identified for listeners, and we recommend clear disclosure wherever the audiobook is sold.

Can different characters have different voices?

AudioFlow supports different narrators for novels told through multiple first-person points of view. Each narrator’s chapters can use a distinct voice.

For other novels, one narrator reads the book and performs the dialogue. AudioFlow gives the narrator character-specific directions covering details such as accent, age, personality, pace, attitude, and emotional state. This helps characters sound distinct while preserving the coherence of a single-narrator audiobook.

AudioFlow does not currently assign a separate narrator voice to every dialogue character.

How much does it cost?

The service fee is $4 per 1,000 words, plus a $20 setup fee.

During alpha, the service fee is 50% off. The setup fee remains $20.

Your first audiobook sample is free. Pay the remaining project price only after you approve it.

For example, an 80,000-word novel normally costs $340:

  • $320 service fee
  • $20 setup fee

During alpha, the same novel costs $180:

  • $160 discounted service fee
  • $20 setup fee

Your exact fixed price is shown before you approve full production. There is no subscription, credit plan, royalty share, or distribution exclusivity.

How long does production take?

Preparing your book and reviewing the production choices usually takes about 15 minutes. Your sample is typically generated in approximately another 15 minutes.

After you approve the sample, producing the complete audiobook generally takes a few hours. You do not need to remain online or supervise the production while it runs.

Longer or more complex books may take additional time. Production can also take longer during unusually busy periods or temporary service interruptions. The project page will show the current production status and let you know when the audiobook is ready.

What happens if there is a mistake?

Corrections for production errors are included. These include:

  • Incorrect pronunciations
  • Missing, duplicated, or misread text
  • Incorrect chapter narrators
  • Dialogue performed using the wrong character guidance
  • Chapter-assembly errors
  • Technical audio defects

Changes to the manuscript or major changes in creative direction after sample approval may require an additional charge. Any additional cost must be shown to the customer for approval before the work begins.

How are difficult names and invented words handled?

AudioFlow flags names, places, foreign words, and invented terms that may need pronunciation guidance.

You can review and correct these pronunciations before full production begins. Your pronunciation settings can also be reused for later books in the same series.

Do I need technical or audio-production experience?

No. You do not need to edit audio, configure narration software, manage usage limits, assemble chapter files, or learn mastering tools.

AudioFlow guides you through the creative choices that matter to your story and handles the production work for you.

Do I keep the rights to my audiobook?

Yes. You retain the rights to your manuscript and completed audiobook.

AudioFlow does not take a share of your royalties or require an exclusive distribution agreement. You can download your completed files and sell them directly or through compatible platforms.

Where can I sell an AudioFlow audiobook?

You can sell the downloaded files directly through your website or another direct-sales storefront.

Some audiobook platforms accept digitally narrated books, while others apply different restrictions or disclosure requirements. These policies can change over time.

AudioFlow provides professionally prepared files and current distribution guidance, but cannot guarantee acceptance by every retailer or distributor.

Is it safe to upload an unpublished manuscript?

Your manuscript remains your intellectual property and is used only to provide the production service you request. Read our Privacy Policy for more detail.

We do not sell manuscripts, use them for advertising, or use them to train Mythropic models.

Can I maintain consistency across books in a series?

Yes. AudioFlow can reuse narrator choices, pronunciation guidance, and character performance notes for later books in the same series.

This helps recurring names and characters remain consistent and reduces the amount of production setup required for each new book.

We can carry narrator choices forward when those voices remain available; voice availability may change over time.

Your story deserves to be heard.
